FAQs

  • Massachusetts is a direct access state which means you do not need a prescription from a doctor to be seen for physical therapy.

There are circumstances, however, where you may need to be cleared by your doctor prior to being seen in PT.

  • Wear comfortable clothes that will allow you to move freely. Your first visit (the evaluation) will take place in a private treatment room. We will first discuss what brings you in as well as what your goals are and what activities you are looking to return to. Having gained a thorough understanding of your history and goals, we will then conduct an examination. We will observe your posture and how you position yourself, measure your strength and range of motion, and observe how you perform functional tasks or specific movements. We will then come up with a treatment plan to address the findings and help you reach your goals.

If you are being seen for pelvic floor PT, an internal assessment of your pelvic floor muscle function may be beneficial to your examination and treatment. This will only occur with your full informed consent, and the evaluation and treatment can be stopped or modified at any time. This internal assessment is not required in order to participate in physical therapy for a pelvic floor issue. If you have specific questions or concerns, this can always be discussed with us prior to your appointment.

  • We work within the out-of-network benefits provided by your health insurance. We accept payment upfront, and if your insurance plan has out of network benefits, they can reimburse you after you are seen for your visits (check with your specific health plan for more details).

If this is the case we will provide you with a super bill to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

This puts control back into your hands, because when it comes to your health, you should have the final say - not your insurance company.

  • Most PT clinics operating under the insurance model are unable to provide you with the best care. It happens quite frequently that the PT you are seeing is double booked with other patients, or instead of seeing the PT you end up seeing a student or an aide. Strict time constraints are often placed on these appointments to maximize the number of patients a provider can see in a given time frame.

Operating as an out of network provider allows us to work with you 1-on-1 for your preferred amount of time and give you the full attention you deserve. We will work together to determine what treatment will work best for you and come up with a plan unique to your situation. It is the PT and the client determining the course of action, not the insurance company.

By providing specific 1-on-1 care on a schedule determined by you and your PT, this generally will result in you recovering faster, with less visits than the typical insurance model.

  • We ask that you give at least 24 hour notice if cancelling or rescheduling your appointment. If cancelling or rescheduling within 24 hours, a late cancellation fee will be charged as it will be difficult to offer that time to another person on such short notice.

We will accept late cancellation for testing positive for COVID-19 or other illness, however we may have to wait at least a week to reschedule depending on the circumstances.

  • Unfortunately, if you have Medicare or Medicaid as your insurance we will be unable to legally see you, despite operating as an out-of-network provider.

  • Yes, we do internal assessments as part of a pelvic floor evaluation to gain a full understanding of your pelvic floor muscle strength, tone, and function. This is not mandatory and will only be performed with your full informed consent. An internal assessment can be extremely helpful in the evaluation of pelvic floor muscle dysfunction as well as the treatment for these conditions.

That said, you do not need to have an internal assessment to be seen for a pelvic floor condition. Depending on what you are being seen for there may be other ways to evaluate and treat without the internal assessment.
